Running Late

I got home from meetings around 8:30am this morning and got the little man ready for church. I had to snap a few photos of him in his suit. I have been waiting for several months to see him in it. He wore it once while I was gone over the summer, but other than that, it's been too hot or he's been too small. He looked very stylin... so I think that is a great reason for why we were 5 min late to church, don't you? :)

We realized after he was dressed that the only closed toed shoes he has are crocs... we debated, and the sandals won out. I think we'll be doing Labor Day sale shopping tomorrow to get the little man some decent Sunday shoes now that fall has arrived.

Love at first sight

Yesterday Andrew had his first "I've gotta have that" shopping experience. We were checking out the toddler clothes far far away from the toy section and Andrew started yelling, "Elmo!" I was distracted trying to find some good clothes on sale and told him that there wasn't Elmo anywhere around... but we'd go look at the toys in a minute.

He kept saying, "Elmo, Elmo, Elmo, Elmo" and pointing. My eyes finally focused on the sweatshirt he was pointing at... and indeed, it had a subtle Elmo print. Little man has good eyes. It was not close to him at all.

I gave it to him and he was so excited. Check out the cute smile.


We did the rest of our shopping while he held his Elmo sweatshirt. I didn't find anything else I wanted, so we went back to return Elmo. The sweatshirt is a little tacky looking, so I didn't really want to buy it. I told Andrew to give Elmo a hug and say bye bye. He listened and gave his sweatshirt a hug.


No tantrums, he just waved bye bye and talked about Elmo as we left the store. It was darling.

Simple Pleasures

We bought Andrew his own toothbrush awhile ago, but he still prefers mine. He likes to walk around making sounds like the electric toothbrush does and shaking the toothbrush. Fortunately, he hasn't learned how to turn it on yet.

The other day I found him standing in front of the best mirror in our house... the oven. He was brushing his teeth, trying to talk, and smiling at himself. It was so cute.


Another recent favorite spot of Andrew's is under the table. This is a great change from sitting on the table or trying to climb on the chairs. Little man loves to push the chairs around and hang out and eat his snack under the table. It keeps him occupied for a long time and I love it.

New Buddies

This week we brought two new friends with us to the park, little L and big L.

Andrew was ecstatic to have new friends to play with and L&L were super excited to go the park!

The little man just recently decided that the swings are the best place ever. This has made my experience at the park a lot more relaxing. He will sit and swing forever.


Big L had fun helping me push little L and Andrew.


Andrew giggled even harder when big L was pushing him... although the weight of his body almost knocked her down once or twice.



We also played on the play structures. Little L and Andrew tried to race to the top of the slide quickly and see who could be the fastest.

Other than the craziness of taking 3 kids under the age of 4 to the park by myself, we had a lot of fun. Sand was thrown, toys were stolen, a few tears were shed... but all in all, everyone went home happy. The little fishies (swedish fish) I brought might have also helped with that too...? :) We are already hoping we can bring the girls to the park with us again next week.

Rock Star Babies

Anyone having fraternal twins anytime soon that want to be little rock stars? This was Andrew's favorite pattern I used today, so I had to make more than one. Once I figure out how to do the stitching around the applique to add a little more color and security, they'll be done!

Busy Saturday

We had a fun, busy Saturday.

Andrew and Kevin made some delicious waffles for breakfast... and while waiting for our guests, Andrew had a little collision with the corner of the wall. The poor little guy needs to work on looking forward while he is running.

Two of Kev's college roommates, Bryant & Bryan, their wives, and their kids joined us for waffles. The kids enjoyed playing with Andrew's toys together and then we all trekked to my new favorite park to let the little guys get out some energy before the Lowes drove back to SoCal.

We each took a turn taking a 2 hour snooze. Mine was from 6-8pm... so I have a feeling I'll be up late tonight.
We watched the BYU game. Andrew liked yelling, "go, go go!" and doing the "false start" signal. I wasn't sure if they'd pull off the win, but was glad they did.


We did a lot of reading. Andrew read his books while sitting next to me and I read my own book. It is rare that I get to read for fun, so this was a high point of the day (in addition to the BYU victory).

I'm enjoying giving Andrew a mini mohawk lately.

I also practiced learning how to applique. I am teaching it to some of the YW next week when we have a baby shower for the former YW's president. The girls are going to make her some onesies at the shower. I had a lot of fun once my friend Liz showed me how easy it is. This tutorial was helpful as well. This is totally my type of sewing project- nice and simple!

All in all, it felt like a productive day!

Little buddies

The little man has the cutest group of buddies right now. Today they had a blast at park day exploring. In typical little boy fashion, they all needed a stick. Once one had one, the rest needed one.


Once they had the sticks, the obvious best thing to do was run around after one another with the sticks.... while making cute random sounds.


Then, they compared sticks.


Then they showed off their sticks and swung them around.


Lastly, they had a little stick sword battle. They all giggled and no one got hurt.


Andrew obviously thought he was the winner.
