Pre-K at Google Day. Simply Awesome.

I think this newest Google event is my favorite so far. Take Your Child to Work Day was held at Google on April 28th... but was only for the Kindergarten- High School crowd. This year they had an option for the littler people a few weeks later- Pre-K at Google Day... and both Andrew and I were pretty excited.

They had a petting zoo, a couple of bounce houses, an obstacle course, food, and some fun shows... Andrew & Kevin had a blast goofing around together. All the excitement was exhausting!

They gave all the kids Google sun hats and sun glasses. Adorable!

The live entertainment from these singing parrots from Happy Birds was amazing. Kev said they sounded like actual people.

After they did everything at the Pre-K party... Kev took Andrew over to check out the new Google Bowling Alley. It is only for Googlers (not kids and families)... but Andrew had fun watching people bowl. It was pretty much the highlight of his week. If at some point they decide to let families go and bowl there... Andrew will make sure we are first on the list.

 

The guys LOVED having some time together, just the two of them! Kevin was in Oregon on a business trip most of the week and flew back on Thursday morning on a 5am flight just to make sure he would make it home to take Andrew to Pre-K day. He is a super dad and Andrew definitely appreciated the sacrifice! If you know Kevin, you know he treasures his sleep and 5am flights are not ones he likes to take.

If Andrew didn't already want to work at Google when he grows up... I think he does now :)

23 Weeks and Caitlin's 6 month Doctor's Appointment

Cate had her 6 month doctor's appointment yesterday (about 3 weeks early). Andrew had a playdate at a friend's house... so Catiebug and I had some fun going to her appointment just the two of us. 

We cuddled and played while we waited for the doctor.

Stats
Weight: 18 lbs (95%)- I totally thought she was going to weigh more than that... so I was surprised.
Height: 26.75 inches (94%)

Crazy that she has grown over 2 inches and about a 1 1/2 lbs since her last appointment.

Just for comparison sake... here are Cate & Andrew at about the same age.

We celebrated the day with some shopping at Valley Fair with Aunt Jessie while Kevin & Andrew hung out a Pre-K Day at Google. 

These were my favorite Catiebug purchases :)

I'll also got three non-black shirts and two non-black skirts for myself. That might be a record.

Happy 23 Weeks Caitlin!

Right Now

I love my little Cate right now. Every stage is different and fun. 

I love that she can sit and play with toys (and only fall over every once in awhile).

I love that she smiles practically every time I send a glance her way.

I love that she'll squeal and keep herself entertained in her exersaucer while I make dinner or do the dishes.

I love that she will play on the floor surrounded by toys and roll and grab... as long as she can hear me or Andrew close by.

I love that she rocks her body back and forth while she is playing so that I find her in all sorts of different locations (she started off closer to the toy in the top right corner).

I love that she'll happily play with toys when she's in her carseat (as long as the carseat isn't driving in the car and she can't see me).

I love the little sounds that she makes. Her current favorite sound is "mmmm!" She thinks it is even better when I copy her. This is her "mmmm" sound face. :)

I love it when she acts goofy and sticks out her tongue at me!

I also love watching these two cuties together. I love that Cate can swing next to Andrew on the swings now. He thought it was so funny that she kicked her shoes off while she was swinging... so he had to kick his shoes off too :) 

Lastly, even though this kid tries my patience (like tonight when he threw a tantrum for over 30 minutes about going to bed), I love love love him too. When he wears bright outfits like this (and accessorizes with his hat) it just makes me happy. I love that he yells, "Hi guys!" to random people at the park. I love that he introduces himself to everyone (Hi! I'm Andrew! Who are you?). 

And I love his special "Baby Caitlin" voice. He is a total sweetheart. 

I feel very lucky to spend the day with these two every day!

Sumo Cate

Caitlin is going to kill me someday for posting these pictures, but Andrew was laughing so hard (mostly doing his fake laughing which is 100% louder than his regular laughing)... so I needed to share them.

Next time I take this picture I'll have to strip her down to just her diaper so that it looks more authentic :)

Maybe I'll actually try to give her a cute piggy tail later this week (using a smaller hair elastic).

Her mohawk afterwards was pretty awesome too.

My next goal is to do a sumo piggy tail AND braid the really long front sides of hair that she has. Aren't I such a nice mom?

Snake Park

I think it is a toss up as to who had more fun last week... me, or Andrew. On Thursday he hung out with my friend Cara and two of his favorite buddies. She snapped a few pictures of them at the "Snake Park"... which is one of his favorite parks. It has water sprayers and a long snake stream to play in. If you can't tell, Andrew had a blast! Thanks Truemans for letting him join you for the day!

Mobilizing your blogger site... and my Homemade Mother's Day gift

This isn't going to be a very interesting post... since there are only two pictures and I'm going to mention a boring topic (mobilizing your blogger site). So, if you don't blog, you can stop reading now (though you'll miss the info about my homemade Mother's Day gift). If you do blog, check out this link and read the info and mobilize your blogger site. I'm sure there are plenty of other places to read about it too... I just liked this easy explanation. Blogs looks so much better on your phone once you do this. If your blog shows teeny tiny print and I have to keep clicking zoom in when I pull it up on my phone, this is for you. 

I had to throw in a cute pic of my favorite little people playing together.

And here's the big homemade present I got for Mother's Day. Kev sure knows how to woo a girl, doesn't he? :) In addition to flowers, yummy breakfast & dinner (made by Kevin), and some Mrs. Fields, and promises of a few fun dates in the future... the man made me a concrete step.

I think it looks pretty good.

Considering all the verbal abuse he went through by me when he was making it, we're all pretty impressed it is still standing. I did not trust his instinct and spend much of my weekend watching DIY stair making videos on YouTube trying to show him that his step wasn't being done correctly.

It is now curing and we are hoping it will remain intact when we redo the garage floor later this week. It is going to get covered with this floor coating.

Just so that you can be super impressed too... picture in the place of that awesome homemade concrete step... a very ugly wooden step that was falling apart and covered with nasty dirty grody carpet.

Pictures of all our new garage storage and completed flooring will be posted later this week. The guys have been hammering and drilling all day (and the little people are actually still sleeping through it all, which is a miracle).

I think I may need to start shopping more now that I will have so much more storage! :)

Happy Mother's Day

I have an all star line up of moms to look to as my examples when I'm having a rough day... or when I'm trying to figure out how to be a better mother to my crazy little kids. 

Jules... you can read more about her in my last post here. My mom is the awsome-est. I aspire to be like her. Especially the latin dancing around the kitchen, crazy hat wearing version of her :) She is the most thoughtful, loving, service-oriented person you'll meet. She is also one of my best friends.  

Shari... she raised my incredible husband and best friend and did a stellar job. He takes out the trash, remembers important events, plays with our kids more than me, keeps his clothes off the floor, does his own laundry, and is pretty much tidier than me all around... and I owe that all to Shari. He also treats me like a queen, honors his priesthood, and works really hard to keep our family happy and feeling loved.

Shari is also a super thoughtful Grandma and Mother-in-law. I lucked out when I married Kevin! My little kids are so blessed to have a grandma that loves them so much!

These ladies pictured below- Elise, Liesl, and Shauna- are also examples to me of superb mothers. I feel blessed to have amazing sisters and sisters-in-law (some who are moms now, and some who will be super moms in the future). Happy Mother's Day to all of my favorite mothers out there!
