Friday Surprise & Field Trip

This morning we surprised Andrew with the cool Bumbo chair (borrowed from our generous friend Alie). He loved checking himself out in the mirror and hanging out while sitting up.

He also loved trying to launch himself out of the chair. Fortunately his chubster thighs kept him nice and secure.

After our morning excitement with the Bumbo, we drove up to San Francisco to visit my favorite place, the Golden Gate Bridge. The fog was still hanging and it looked beautiful. My favorite memories of the bridge date back to when Liz and I were roommates and we'd head up for early Saturday 6am runs across the bridge. We'd start at the Marina and run about 8 miles round trip through Chrissy Field and the Presidio and then up across the bridge (about 2 miles across) and back. We'd usually watch the gorgeous sunrise through the fog while we ran (we would experience this separately though... since Liz ran a mile or two faster than me :)). Once Elise moved in, she joined us on our trips. Sometimes we'd stop for a chocolate ganache brownie on the drive home.

Today Andrew & I met up with my friend Priya, who lives in the city. We did the bridge trek while pushing the little man in his jogger. It felt like we'd gone on vacation to a totally different place b/c it was so windy and chilly. I loved dressing Andrew up in his hat and fuzzy soft fleece outfit. He was so comfy to cuddle with!

We managed to arrive just in time to hang out with all the "Free Tibet" people who were supporting a boycott of the Beijing Olympics and having a peace walk across the bridge. There was tons of security. Fortunately there were no problems, unlike their previous peace march.

By the time we'd finished our walk, the fog had cleared.

Afterwards, we headed down to a little cafe on Union St. in the Marina section called JoVino for lunch. I had the Tuscan Grill sandwich, which was delicious! I definitely plan to go back there. Andrew had fun hanging out with Priya while I ate- he blew bubbles at her and was amazed that someone other than me could sing his favorite song (the Itsy Bitsy Spider)- the kid has such "cultured" tastes :)

What a fun way to end the week!
