Summer fun with the Buskirks

Here are some pictures from our trip to Sedona, Arizona with the Buskirk clan in July. We stayed at the beautiful Sedona Summit Resort with Grandma and Grandpa Buskirk, the Buskirk family, and the Johnson family.

This is just one of the incredible views we had from our little suites. Going running every morning and seeing the beautiful red rock was a highlight of the trip for me!

On Monday, Kevin and I drove with the Johnsons in their big Suburban up to the rim of the Grand Canyon. It looked like it was going to be a beautiful day.
We hiked down into the Canyon on the Kaibab Trail and as we reached the halfway point, the sky opened up and began to pour. We got to see an incredible display of lightning. Since we were so far down the Canyon, we kept hiking after we decided it was pointless to find shelter since there wasn't any place that wasn't drenched with water.
The boys were good sports and we had a lot of fun jumping across puddles.

After we finished our hike, we drove all around the park trying to find hot chocolate and warm food. I think it was the best meal we had ever eaten!

On Tuesday, Kevin, the Johnsons, and Allen went on the Pink Jeep tour. The Buskirk girls, Allen and Shari and I decided to sleep in and do the Hummer Tour the next morning.
On Wednesday we all drove down to Phoenix for a Arizona Diamondbacks game. We enjoyed the air conditioning since it was so hot in Phoenix!

Kevin and I brought M&Ms and other treats, so the nieces and nephews loved sitting by us!
On Thursday we went to Slide Rock State Park. There are tons of natural waterslides carved in the rocks. The water was freezing, but we had a blast riding the rapids!
Kevin and the Johnson boys cannonballed off the cliffs into the deepest and coldest part of the river.
Grandma Shari and Kate had fun in the shallow rapids enjoying the freezing cold water! When Kevin and I got in the water the first time we just screamed until our bodies warmed up and got used to the temperature. Slide Rock Park was probably our favorite place to visit on the whole trip
