Gift Card Fine Print

To follow up on some of your questions about gift cards, here's the deal:

1. The gift card I have is a Visa/US Bank giftcard (from Stanford Shopping Mall). You can use it anywhere Visa gift cards are accepted... just like the Visa gift cards many of you got for weddings.

2. You can pay a $15 expired card fee if you still have a remaining balance after the card expires... so then you get whatever money you have left (minus $15)

3. US Bank charges a $2.50 monthly administrative fee, beginning in the 13th month... so don't wait too long to use it (like I did).

So, if you're like me and wait too long, you get hit w/ all the $2.50 admin fees and the $15 expired card fee and you only end up w/ $60-something. Lame!

Because the gift cards are through Visa and the US Bank, different policies apply... so the myth that cards don't expire in CA is not necessarily true. American Express ones have a similar policy (I think), so READ the fine print (unlike me :)).

Happy Shopping!

Speaking of gift cards, Matt and I used the Cheesecake gift cards you gave us the night before Chase came home and enjoyed a final night out for the next several years :) Luckily it still had the full money on it :) THANKS, K!!!

And, some money is better than no money, right?
