Tonight for our Family Home Evening lesson we talked about Keeping a Journal. Andrew and I dug through the cupboards and found my old journals. He was insanely excited about my King Tut art from 6th grade and wanted to make one right now! I loved my description of the Hilton Hotel in Hong Kong. I was such a hotel snob at that point in my life.
I also showed him different sketches from the art journal I used to keep. I thought it was neat that I drew this sketch on my first ever trip to the Bay area. I loved San Francisco and decided on that trip that someday I wanted to live there.
I also discovered a few other sketches that were fun. I created this one when I was serving as the Relief Society President in one of my BYU student wards. I got to go into Elders Quorum one Sunday and teach a huge room filled with 21+ yr old guys (and no girls) about this declaration, why it was important, and how it affected them.
These were a few other random sketches that I did. I loved the quote below this image. I'm glad that's not how I feel any more.
Kath & Elise - I think this bottom picture is of the three of us. :)
Digging through these memories (and pieces of artwork) reminded me that I need to create things for myself more often. I miss it and the process of creating is such a great way to express how I am feeling.
Now if I can just find the time to do it...

Wow, your sketches are BEAUTIFUL! And I love the last one. The jewelry box with that picture on it is on my dresser. I see it every day and think of you and Elise and our amazing friendship!
i didn't know you were secretly an awesome artist! impressive.
I had no idea! Those are great!
YOU ARE AMAZING!!!!
Wow--you are a phenomenal artist! You should tap into that talent more and make some artwork for your home...or your friends' homes. ;) BTW, I think we might have sketched the EXACT same picture of King Tut's head mask. I have an extremely similar drawing hiding in one of my sketchbooks somewhere. When I was in elementary/middle school, I was certain that I was going to be an Egyptologist one day. :)
you've got talent!
