Christmas in SF

Two years ago we started a tradition of going into SF at Christmas. Somehow in the craziness of last year's move, we didn't make it into the city... so we started the tradition back up again this year.

The Macy's wreathes were beautiful and the weather in the city was perfect- not freezing and windy like it normally is this time of year.

We checked out the ice skaters... Andrew really wanted to skate...

and we admired the tree in Union Square with all the huge ornaments.

Buskirk family of four- Christmas 2010

Andrew wasn't too excited about being in a picture, so this is another version of our family photo :)

It was fun to have Shari in town to join us!

We also checked out some street performers and the Macy's windows- having a really tall dad is especially great when there are crowds. The Macy's windows were filled with cats and dogs that want to be adopted... Kevin and Andrew wanted to adopt a little dog named Pez. I recommended a pillow pet instead.

We also went to Neiman Marcus to see their beautiful tree... I actually like it better than the Union Square one. Your neck sure starts to hurt from straining to see the star on this one.

Next stop was Ghirardelli Square. I stayed in the car to feed Caitlin and got quite a make out show from the people in the car next to mine... could have possibly been the highlight of my night when I chirped my car to get out and they realized I had been sitting in my car the whole time-- awkward for them! They took off pretty quickly. So funny!

Andrew kept Caitlin entertained while we waited for our ice cream.

He loved smooching his baby sister... at least until she started crying for him to leave her alone!

Andrew got a two scoop sundae because he couldn't decide if he wanted vanilla or chocolate.

He was very proud of all the ice cream he ate!

After he was covered in chocolate, Shari helped him eat a few last bites since he didn't want to get any messier.

Almost all clean! He didn't believe me that he was still chocolatey, so I snapped a picture so that he could see,

Caitlin eventually got bored and fell asleep... after all, Ghirardelli isn't too exciting if you don't get to eat any ice cream!

Andrew and I watched Frosty the Snowman the whole drive back and we got home in 35-40 minutes. Overall the night was great and Andrew was such a good sport when we had to sit in traffic in Union Square!

Ice cream sundaes definitely make any holiday tradition a little bit better!
