Closet Door Dilemma

Homeowners, future homeowners, people with opinions??? Weigh in will you?

We are redoing our closets and can't decide what sort of closet doors to put in.

The choices are:

Mirrored doors- that's what we have right now. When we see them we think, "outdated"... but we love the function of them... and Andrew absolutely loves checking himself out in them. So, should we just buy updated ones?

White paneled doors could look a little more updated maybe?

I think I might be liking the bi-fold paneled closet door option too? Not sure. We've had some
bad experiences with bi-fold doors in the past. This one works the best for a kids closet (maybe?) since you can open it and access everything easier...?

Opinions? Any other suggestions? If you were refacing your closets, what would you pick?

We are hoping to start demolition this weekend! It wouldn't be a holiday without a home improvement project on the agenda.

I'd probably vote for the white paneled doors, but still get a big wood-framed mirror (Ikea has a nice-looking but relatively inexpensive one). I have a really big full-size mirror in my room and love it, but agree that the mirrored closet doors can look outdated. Of course, that's just my two cents :)

ooh thats tricky. i don't know what the modern option would be...i do hate sliding closet doors, but we have the kind with the mirrors now and i actually like them a lot because they make the rooms seem a bit larger. i'd love to see what you decide!

How funny--we are getting new doors this Thursday! We are going for 3 panel hollow sliding doors like the one in the 2nd picture. I was leaning toward the bi-fold, but the door guy talked me out of them--funny thing is, they were 1k more, and he did his best to steer me the other way. Pinched fingers, take up more space, etc. We decided to go for the sliders. I will let you know how we like them.

Mirrored closet doors are definitely outdated. I would get rid of them!

I agree to go paneled sliders or bi-fold and buy a big full length mirror. Your house is so gorgeous . . . .

I hate closet doors--there is no perfect solution! The bi-fold ones are nice as long as they work right. The sliding ones always seem to be in the way. Upstairs I've taken down all of the girls (sliding 3 panel) closet doors and replaced them with cute curtains on tension rods so that they can see and reach their clothes--we tuck the curtains out of the way most of the time. We plan to put the doors back in later. In the basement we put in double doors that swing out (like a regular door) and those work well --especially for the dressup closet, they also encourage people to close the doors between uses because they can be in the way otherwise. No good solutions, it seems. Good luck!

All I can think about with bi-fold doors are little fingers getting pinched. Our house came with the mirrored doors in our master and I actually like them. Jocelyn loves to dance in front of them :-) Or you could go for no closet doors at all. That's what I did in Jocelyn's room :-) It was just easier to see everything!haha

I'm not sure which I like best, but here's my opinion on mirrored doors. That's what we have in our new place and I don't like them. They are functional, but for me, the looks aren't worth the functionality. So, my opinion is to go for something else.

We mostly have the bi-fold doors. No problems getting fingers pinched so far, but every time I close them I think how much bigger the room seems. So I don't like that they take up so much space when they're open, but I do like you can open both sides at the same time unlike sliding ones.

I like the sliding doors because they don't take up any room in the room so you don't have to worry things will be in the way. I'm not the biggest fan of the bi-fold with kids because of squished fingers. Good luck
