Thanksgiving Advent Activities

I loved this Thanksgiving activities list, so we tweaked it a bit to fit our family and came up with a bunch of things to do throughout November that we think will be fun. If you're up for the challenge (I'm interested to see how many of these we complete before Thanksgiving too), we'd love you to join us in our countdown! We printed out these ideas, cut them up, and put them in a jar... then we've been choosing one to do every day.

1. We are Thankful for our Grandparents
Make turkey handprint cards and mail them to our Grandparents.

2. We are Thankful for our Missionaries
Make pumpkin bread and turkey paper plate cards for them.

3. We are Thankful for our Teachers
Make a thank you card (shape turkey card) and make Marshmallow pilgrim hat cookies to give them.
Both of these look too cute... we may have to try both!

4. We are Thankful for our Voices.
Sing Thanksgiving songs together.

There are some fun Thanksgiving songs here that we've been singing.

5. We are Thankful for our Toys.
Clean out your toys and donate a few to the Distribution Center.
(This one is going to be difficult for us)

6. We are Thankful for our Friends.
Invite a few friends over to play Thanksgiving turkey games and do a corn craft.

7. We are Thankful for our Family.
Play family/friend photo memory game to prepare for who we will see at Thanksgiving.

This memory game idea from Momtastic looks like a lot of fun... but using family photos instead.

8. We are Thankful for our healthy bodies.
Participate in a Turkey Trot or host your own in your neighborhood on Thanksgiving Day.

We are going to try and do our own around the neighborhood... I'll probably do a lot of walking by then instead of running since I'll be due 4-5 days later.

9. We are Thankful for our Eyes.
Watch a Thanksgiving movie together as a family.

10. We are Thankful for Books.
Read Thanksgiving books together as a family.

11. We are Thankful for our Neighbors.
Deliver turkey cookie treats.

We had a lot of fun making these the other night.

12. We are thankful for Nature.
Make pinecone turkeys using pinecones we find outside.

13. We are Thankful we can Write.
Make a Thanksgiving Thankful chain.

14. We are Thankful helpers.
Draw names of family members and do a secret chore for that person by the next day. (This one will be interesting to try with Andrew)

15. We are Thankful to be Thankful.
Read the Thanksgiving story and act it out using pilgrim puppets.

16. We are Thankful for our Car.
Go on a Fall drive to check out the beautiful Fall leaves.

17. We are Thankful for Thanksgiving Dinner.
Make Harvest placemats for the kids for Thanksgiving dinner.

There are just too many fun ideas floating out there... but these are the ones we narrowed down to try and do. Only 15 days left till Thanksgiving!
