Music Makers

What a difference a summer can make! We had our first Music Makers class of the year this morning and Andrew was a completely different kid.

1. He sat down
2. He stayed sitting down almost the whole time
3. He sang all the songs
4. He did the actions while singing the songs
5. He laughed and hugged me after each song
6. He sat and listened to a story... or two... or three (while eating his snack)

I definitely feel like he is growing up!

We'll see what changes/stays the same as he gets warmed back up to the crowd in the future weeks.

He also thought it was funny to just scream at the top of his lungs while under the parachute.

He wanted to sit very close to the story so that he could see it... as you can see, everyone else was much further back (this makes it look like there were only two kids).

The cutest part was how excited he was about HIS teacher! He got to have a turn to choose a song because he was sitting down and singing so nicely and he beamed! He loved going up to his teacher and saying, "Hi teacher!" and when he saw other kids helping he kept asking, "Can I go help my teacher?" It was darling.

He was also soooo excited about the Music Maker sticker he got at the end of class. While he waited for his sticker, he figured out exactly where he wanted it to go (on his arm)... so when the teacher came along, he told her exactly where he wanted it!

What a fun first day of class! Last year's first day involved a tantrum in the hall, minimal singing, screaming every time we got close to other kids, and him saying things like, "all done!'... so we've definitely made progress!

Mom's Day Out starts on Friday... so it'll be interesting to see if his behavior there has changed after a summer off as well.

I love being busy and having fun things to do, but don't like the finality of actually having a set schedule. We have three classes each week that we go to now that Fall has started (Virtues, Music Makers, and Mom's Day Out... although Mom's Day Out is more of a 3 hr break for me than a class for Andrew :)). I am also starting to teach a little Arts & Crafts class a couple times a month. The last thing I want to plug into our schedule is a gymnastics class for Andrew. I know he'll love it... but don't know if I want to have a scheduled class every week! I like having a morning or two to be lazy :)

We'll see which one wins out- my lazy self or my nice mom self.

P.S.- On a random note, Aunt Jessie is moving to the Bay area this weekend and we are BEYOND EXCITED! Let the partying begin!

Wish we could have been there today. My daughter is usually the one riling up the troops. Can't wait to join you and Andrew there!

Andrew would never know if he was missing out on the gym class!! I vote for more unstructured time. Structure schedules will come soon enough.

Have fun this weekend! Sounds like fun!
