Surf City Nights

On Tuesday night I met the guy to blame for the beard-off. I think he might be winning... but only because his dark beard is more visible than Kevin's blonde one. Andrew tells Kevin every day that he needs to "shave his scruffies" off. I think Kevin will listen to Andrew before he listens to me. :)

Every Tuesday night downtown Huntington Beach puts on an event called Surf City Nights. There is a Farmers Market, food vendors, live entertainment, and our favorite... fun for kids- inflatables, a bubble man, and a balloon artist.

The inflatables were the biggest hit.

Caitlin wasn't as impressed.

The Flamenco music was a hit with Andrew... he could barely be pulled away.

The bubble guy was also cool... but the big kids kept stealing Andrew's bubbles because they were taller and could pop them before Andrew could even reach them.

After exploring we headed to dinner at a Smith family favorite- Johnny Rockets. Mmm! Choosing what to eat was difficult... so many good options.

Kids eat free on Tuesdays (we learned at the end of the night), so we were glad Andrew brought his appetite! Caitlin didn't want to be left out either!

The night was given a big thumbs up! Kevin had been skeptical at first when I told him we were driving to Huntington Beach at 6:30pm for a random street fair thing... and then try to get back for bedtime by 8:30. At the end of the night, everyone was glad that we'd gone... and since we walked Andrew to death he zonked out immediately when we got back to the hotel!

Day 1 of vacation was a success!
